$12 MM in Federal NMTCs for Acquisition, Construction, and Development of Healthcare Facility in Medically Underserved Community

Clearinghouse CDFI (CCDFI) provided $12 MM in federal NMTCs to Innercare to help improve healthcare accessibility in a low-income community. This financing supports the acquisition, construction, and development of a new facility in Imperial, California.

Innercare is working to bridge the gap in healthcare deficiencies in Imperial County including delayed prenatal care, poor postnatal care, dismal care for the elderly, and difficulties in managing diabetes, obesity, and asthma. The NMTC financing provided by CCDFI allows Innercare to build a 54,000-square-foot facility containing a 25,000-square-foot Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), a 25,000-square foot Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Center, and 4,000 square feet of common area. These new integrated facilities provide services such as primary care, women’s care, pediatrics, chronic disease management, dental, radiology, behavioral health, pharmacy, and complimentary transportation.

The development of the Innercare healthcare facility serves nearly 18,000 patients, the majority of which are low-income clients. This project will also create 125 construction jobs (92% accessible to Low-Income and people with the skill level at or equivalent to a high school education), 158 permanent jobs (78% accessible to Low-Income and people with the skill level at or equivalent to a high school education). All jobs will provide benefits and training opportunities and be paid a living wage.
