$910k Loan Provides Equipment Upgrades to Support Marine Conservation Efforts

Aquarium of the Bay – San Francisco, CA

Clearinghouse CDFI (CCDFI) is happy to continue working with Aquarium of the Bay (The Aquarium). With $910,000 in financing, CCDFI is helping The Aquarium improve and upgrade equipment, furthering their marine conservation efforts.

For more than 20 years, The Aquarium has dedicated its efforts to the preservation of San Francisco’s marine life, focusing on public education and conservation initiatives. In 2020, during the challenging times of the pandemic, CCDFI worked with The Aquarium to execute emergency funding to ensure the continued operation of essential facilities. Today, the Aquarium is determined to further its mission of promoting thriving marine life by making necessary tenant improvements and equipment upgrades. With the financial support provided by CCDFI, the Aquarium plans to enhance its capabilities by constructing a new reef tank and life support system, upgrading the flooring, installing an Ozone water system, and implementing various other upgrades.

Aquarium of the Bay is a nonprofit organization as well as California’s only Smithsonian Affiliated Aquarium and is one of the few accredited facilities by the Association. The aquarium is home to more than 24,000 marine animals including sharks and rays, octopus, jellyfish, anchovies, river otters, and many more.
