Native American Outreach Ministries

Clearinghouse CDFI (CCDFI) is working with Native American Outreach Ministries, Inc. (NAOMI) to establish a safe space in Arizona to foster and shelter children in emergency situations. NAOMI is a nonprofit mission home dedicated to providing a safe, loving home for Native American Children ranging from birth–18 years old, including emancipated youth.

Child abuse rates in the United States are highest among American Indian victims at 15.5 per 1,000 children. With a $125,000 loan from CCDFI, NAOMI is purchasing a single-family residence to serve as transitional housing for youth aging out of the system. CCDFI’s loan allows NAOMI to expand its capacity and offer counseling, special education, and a place of hope and healing for neglected children.

NAOMI works to maintain a home-like atmosphere while avoiding an institutional appearance. NAOMI’s Cultural Identity Program is designed to foster a sense of community and kinship among these neglected children.
