Clearinghouse CDFI Finances LifeROOTS, Supporting Employment for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
Clearinghouse CDFI provided a $2 million loan to LifeROOTS, Inc., a longstanding nonprofit organization based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1958, the organization began as a rehabilitation center serving children with cerebral palsy and has since grown into a statewide provider of employment-focused services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
A Longstanding Provider of Employment-Focused Services
Today, LifeROOTS serves more than 1,500 individuals each year across New Mexico. Its work centers on helping participants prepare for employment and secure meaningful jobs within their communities. Through service contracts with commercial and government partners in Albuquerque and beyond, LifeROOTS also employs individuals with disabilities in facility-based roles. This creates steady income opportunities tied directly to workforce participation.
Supporting Continued Growth – LifeROOTS, Inc.
Clearinghouse CDFI’s loan supports the organization’s ongoing operations and future program growth. In addition to maintaining 53 full-time positions, LifeROOTS anticipates expanding to 58 employees. Approximately 75 individuals served fall within the 51–80% area median income range. The organization operates within a designated CDFI Investment Area in Albuquerque.
By supporting this long-established institution, Clearinghouse CDFI reinforces employment pathways for individuals with disabilities and strengthens a community-based organization that continues to play an active role in the region’s workforce.
