Q: Please share one fun fact about yourself.

Emily: A fun fact would be that I love running and I enjoy playing sports! Including dance being one of them.

Q: Any hobbies?

Emily: I am on the DRILL team at school and dance outside of school.

Q: What are your strengths?

Emily: My strengths would be being able to have that leadership skill when it comes to wanting to have people included.

Q: Any hidden talents?

Emily: My right knee cracks whenever I bend it. (not sure if I tore something but it CRACKS).

Q: Would you say you have a more outgoing or reserved personality?

Emily: Outgoing.

Q: Who do you look up to?

Emily: I look up to my parents because their sacrifice is what allows me to keep moving forward in wanting a better education for myself.

Q: Name one challenge you’ve faced and explain how you overcame it.

Emily: A challenge I faced was when I had knee surgery at the age of 15. It was heartbreaking for me to understand the circumstances as I was very naïve to the situation. I was and still am restricted from doing a lot of things which makes me feel left out at times but the way I overcame it was by helping others.

Q: Where do you hope to attend college?

Emily: Chapman University.

Q: What is your dream job?

Emily: Teacher!

Q: How did you hear about the ‘B’ BOLD Internship Award Program?

Emily: Through my advisor in SteppingUp.

Q: Why did you decide to apply?

Emily: I wanted to be open to different careers in order to also gain more experience.

Q: What does being selected mean to you?

Emily: Being selected to me means that I have worked very hard in order to be seen in a sense where I feel as if my dedication towards school and to the community is finally being acknowledged.

Q: What do you hope to learn at CCDFI?

Emily: I hope to gain a new experience in business. The reason is because my brother is majoring in business and whenever he talks about it I feel completely lost, so by doing this internship I hope to better understand not just my brother, but how the real business world works.

Q: What department or area sounds the most interesting to you?

Emily: I’m not too sure but I think Marketing.

Q: Anything else you’d like us to know—anything at all?

Emily: Thank you for giving many, like me, this opportunity!
