Q: Please share one fun fact about yourself.
Rafael: I was Captain of the Varsity wrestling team at Santiago HS for 3 years.
Q: Any hobbies?
Rafael: I enjoy watching basketball and MMA with my friends and family. I also enjoy playing pool/billiards.
Q: What are your strengths?
Rafael: I feel I can find efficient ways to accomplish certain tasks.
Q: Any hidden talents?
Rafael: I can do some basic cards tricks.
Q: Would you say you have a more outgoing or reserved personality?
Rafael: Reserved.
Q: Who do you look up to?
Rafael: Both of my parents. They went through so much for me and my siblings; I owe all of my success to them.
Q: Name one challenge you’ve faced and explain how you overcame it.
Rafael: I struggled with my confidence during my freshman years. I overcame this by joining school clubs and being a part of wrestling. Leading the team and constantly working out boosted my confidence and made me into a much better person.
Q: Where do you hope to attend college?
Rafael: I’m currently attending UC Berkeley.
Q: What is your dream job?
Rafael: A business consultant or financial advisor in the sports industry.

Rafael: My SteppingUp advisor recommended it to me.
Q: Why did you decide to apply?
Rafael: I wanted to gain experience on what the finance world was like.
Q: What does being selected mean to you?
Rafael: It means a lot, it’s an opportunity I’m very grateful for and I hope to learn many new things regarding Finance.
Q: What do you hope to learn at CCDFI?
Rafael: I hope to learn what it’s like to be in a corporate environment. I also want to gain new skills that can benefit me in the future.
Q: What department or area sounds the most interesting to you?
Rafael: So far, Underwriting seems most interesting since they are the “detectives.”

Rafael: Another fun fact about me is I enjoy hiking with my family and friends.
